About

Hello and welcome!  I'm Ryan, the designer and builder for RD Effects.  All of my effects pedals and equipment are designed and handmade by myself in Mesa, Arizona.  I play electric guitar regularly on the worship team on rotation at my local church.  Most of my standard pedals are designed with worship music and the electric guitarist in mind.  Given my background, it's my heart to provide functional pedals to those in the worship community at a great price and with great quality.  That being said, there are many other musical styles where my pedal designs would work very well!

The RD Effects story:

The early days of RD Effects started back in the spring of 2018 out of a personal need for some more pedals on my pedalboard.  I couldn't afford many of the pedals on the market but I knew I had the tools, design skills and soldering skills to at least try building something on my own.  After much online research and some trial and error I, finally managed to come up with my first overdrive pedal, which would eventually become the Pellucidrive V2 Overdrive With Boost.  The beginnings were certainly humble and the first few pedals were rough in appearance.  It took some time, practice, and a few rounds of testing prototypes live to improve.  After a while, my friends began to notice my pedals for their high build quality and great tone.  By the summer of 2019, my build quality had dramatically improved and I was building clones and some personally designed pedals for friends.  It was at that point in time when I was faced with the question: Where would I take this endeavor, and what does the future of RD Effects look like?

I heard the answer to that question one day during my quiet time with God.  I felt a word from the Lord that said: "I want you to keep building pedals".  That was about it, no more specifics.  While I know this kind of a word from God may sound a bit strange, I definitely felt this as a personal calling and chose to trust it.  Over the next few years I poured into the craft of hand-building pedals and progressively developed my skills in all areas of the process such as tooling, organization, construction techniques, sales strategies, and circuit design.  There's certainly a lot to it!  Having a background in mechanical design and CAD definitely helped me progress.  And with a bit of guidance from some fellow builders I eventually added PCB design to my arsenal.

Fast forward to today, RD Effects is actively engaged in supplying a range of functional, high quality guitar pedals and equipment.  I maintain a stock of all the standard designs so they're ready to buy, with no wait or minimal lead time.  All standard pedals are built with through-hole electronic components, PCBs, and labelled faceplates for consistency,  quality, and ease of use.  Feel free to reach out using the contact link if you have any questions or just to say hi!
