Driven by a tri-parallel amplification stage, this overdrive pedal is dynamic, rich, and versatile. The wide profile of its touch responsiveness allows for very lightly played notes to ring out essentially clean, but dig in any more than that and you release a harmonically rich and dynamic crunch with a great mid-gain feel having a full tonal range which is neither excessively bright nor overly "flubby"/bassy. A light but deliberate pick attack will bring out smooth and tasty distortion that isn't over the top, but strum hard and your ears will continue to thank you as it drives harder with a smooth and rich crunch.
The controls on Pillar Drive V2 are simple to operate. Adjust the Level knob to set the desired volume output. Setting it on the higher end will push your amp. Adjusting the Gain knob dramatically modifies the character of the distortion but does not greatly affect the amount of saturation. Lower Gain settings have more clarity and are brighter. Higher gain settings are warmer with less clarity. Finally use the Tone knob to modify the high frequency response. Increase the Tone knob to bring out more pick attack and for a brighter sound. Decrease the Tone knob for a duller and warmer sound.
Updates from the first version include:
- Greatly improved output. Up to +25dB gain compared to the bypass signal! (This thing is LOUD!!)
- Internal output adjustment allows for the user to lower max output if a less sensitive Level knob is desired.
- Added gain control. Lowering the gain cleans up the distortion by improving clarity and increasing articulation without affecting the signature touch responsiveness and saturation.
- Top mounted jacks with 125B enclosure.
- New graphic design and faceplate look.
- LED brightness switch, accessible internally for low and high settings.
- Rubberized knobs, anti-glare and high contrast.
