Fond Fuzz - Angle

Fond Fuzz - Internal

The RD Effects Fond Fuzz is a two-transistor fuzz circuit, based on the Fuzz Face.  This circuit has been tweaked and modified for low noise, a reasonable amount of max gain/fuzz, a balanced but slightly mid-pushed frequency response, and plenty of extra volume on tap to really drive the front end of an amp.

Originally designed for use on my pedalboard in a worship music context, this fuzz pedal has a great tone and incredible dynamic qualities. Simply adjust your pick attack or vary the guitar's volume knob and it will give you a wide dynamic response from clean all the way up to full saturation. Modulation and reverb effects complement its harmonic richness well. This pedal works best first in the signal chain (even before tuners), but it does stack quite well with many different types of drive pedals for certain higher-gain lead tones.

The controls on Fond Fuzz are simple to operate. Warm is the volume level control. Turn the Warm knob clockwise to raise the output. Setting it on the higher end will push your amp. Fuzzy is the fuzz control. Turn the Fuzzy knob clockwise to increase the amount of distortion/fuzz. When the Fuzzy knob is turned down all the way (fully counterclockwise), the pedal will respond similar to a clean boost with slightly boosted mid-range frequencies.

Notable features include:

  • Bias control, internally adjustable. Note: Bias is preset to approximately 5V as measured from the pads labeled "GND" and "Q2 C" which are next to the trim pot on the main PCB.
  • Top mounted jacks with 125B enclosure
  • Bold cutaway-style graphic faceplate
  • LED brightness switch, accessible internally for low and high settings
  • Rubberized knobs, anti-glare and high contrast

Specifications:

  • Power: 9V DC 2.1mm jack only, center negative (no battery connection available)
  • Input/Output: 1/4" jack (top mounted)
  • Dimensions (approx.): 5.0"L x 2.6"W x 2.3"H
  • Weight (approx.): 0.6 lbs
